Lust, Racisim, Long Waits And Storms

I think your actors need to physically inhabit their situation and environment. They don't seem physically tired, desperate, scared, hungry, or anything. You need to sell us, the audience, that they really have experienced the hell that was their personal story with Katrina & its tragic aftermath. I think body language and non-verbal behaviour would be more revealing.
Like disjecta saidd, I think this has potential to be interesting.

btw...how did you do that text effect? it looks really cool...kinda like from sound waves to like text.
 
I almost agree, however, I wanted someplace to travel to...If I started them off as you say, where then does time take them? but I can totally see your point...which is insightful.

I also think I directed this a bit too much as if it were a play as opposed to a film...

I'm iffy on this...Thanks for your thoughts though

Credits were done with LIVE TYPE...Thanks for that comment as well

I can definitely see that...no question, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. It looks as if this is a struggle between two guys who ended up together through a series a bad events. Might best if directed as a play. I dunno...I'll reserve final judgment until I see the whole film.

Can you post the details of your camera and lightning setup?
 
Music was good, loved the text/credits FX, but have to agree that the actors didn't LOOK like they've been there long ... more like they just plopped into the water, and were lucky enough to land in HEAVY salt water so they didn't have to work much at floating, or were nearly standing on something.

BTW, was that a shot swiped from THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW (the massive weather system/earth shot)?

LIVE TYPE ... that's FCP only isn't it?

i liked it. I saw it as just a test, but are you saying you have a whole story you are working with or already have?

i'm a little confused, are these suppose to be katrina survivors or just a metaphor?

I agree. This looks really good even in its teaser glory. Goddamn this country.

The racism card? Yeah; I thin kif it was Bel Aire it'd be another story................

But the racism and poverty card needs to start home. Dont you agree?

Oh I guarantee it can be done ... I don't know how the compression/quality would compare, but it can be done ... on a VERY manual basis.

That quality of the FX looked like it compared with the level of AE, though harder to tell on such a small file/screen size.
 
Sorry about taking down the link...I think I put it up too soon...I was also terrified of getting in that water...hehehe. I told the actors I liked the bounce in the boat...But I was SCARED...Anyway, much more work to do on it before I post it again......That said, I just put up the first scene of another film I'm working on....feel much better about that one....but I'd love your thoughts.
