GH5 Lumix GH5 will NOT white balance with DC Coupler attached

Hello Group,

I purchased a generic DC coupler to use with my Lumix GH5, (for DMW-DCC12) to plug in as constant ac power. It works just fine, however the problem is that the camera will NOT white balance while the coupler is in the camera and attached, when I remove it and put a battery in the camera will white balance just fine. This is particularly frustrating as I was shooting hours of interviews and could not white balance the camera, I used auto white balance, which I don't like to use. This is VERY strange, anyone else experienced that issue? Or have a solution of what to do?...perhaps I need to purchase the Panasonic only version of the coupler and get rid of this generic version?

Thank you!

I use a Lanparte BLF19P-01 Battery Dummy Pack along with the Lanparte Battery Back Pack Plate Adapter Power Supply Pinch With Internal HDMI Splitter for Anton Bauer and I have never encountered the problem you describe. I been using this setup for over 2 years now with both the GH4 and now the GH5.

that is the model I have the Lanparte BLF19P-01 Battery Dummy Pack. It is very strange, the camera flashes on an off like it going to white balance but does not click. :(

I reset the camera, then reloaded my settings from the sd card, attached the coupler and it wil still NOT white balance while attached. This is just ridiculous and frustrating.

I had the same issue with an external recorder attached...Once I removed the HDMI cable, the GH5 white balance was available again. Now I just white balance before attaching the recorder. I also use the same battery adapter you have listed.

Which recorder did you use?

I've just got a GH5 to replace a GH4 which was one of the reasons why I upgraded, was the lack of MWB while in 10bit mode and connected to my Atomos... was this at the same time as having the battery adapter fitted?

I had stopped try to do it without unplugging the HDMI cable. You are correct, it now seems to work as intended since Ive updated the firmware.

I have never experienced the problem stated using the very same battery adapter in conjunction with or without my Atomos Shogun, but to play it safe, I am going to upgrade to the latest firmware from 2.1 to 2.2. Thank you guys for sharing.

Hi Guys
I'm wondering if there is a fix to this problem as I have the same issue with my GH5s. I use an external battery with the DC coupler. Cant change WB. Have to put normal battery back in, set WB, then change back to external battery.

I thought it might be the coupler so I swapped it out for a Genuine Panasonic DCC12 Coupler thats is connected to a AC adapter. Tried to do a WB and the whole Camera shut down and would not restart. Put the Battery back in and it fired up. Very odd and a bit disturbing.

There's something wrong with your camera. I hope you're still under warranty.
