GH3 Lumix 35-100 2.8 or Olympus 75mm 1.8

Not sure which to go with, but since the Olympus 75mm is around $900 and the Limix 35-100 2.8 is not that much more it would seem
that I would get more versatility out of the Lumix 35-100.
I realize that the Olympus is a faster lens and that the bokeh is nicer. (but, how much nicer is it really?)
It seems hard to spend almost the cost of the camera body on just one focal length lens.
I will be using the lens mainly for video

Any thoughts, opinions or advise would be greatly appreciated.

The Lumix is more versatile with the GH3 and is a very good lens. IS is a plus for video. I have both the Lumix 12-35 and 35-100. These are keepers.

As Erik stated, the 35-100 Lumix is more versatile, which is why I went with Lumix zooms first. Eventually I'll buy a set of primes, though I don't know if I'm going to go Olympus or Samyang Cine. ( both have their advantages )

Really depends on what you will use it for. They are all great lenses. The 75mm is a higher quality lens however. There is a reason why we have primes and why we spend so much money on them compared to zooms. They are higher quality and usually offer a certain look we are going for. If zooms were the answer to everything then we wouldn't have primes.

Primes are amazing lenses but yet you have to have lots of them and you have to know how and when to use them. A zoom is easier but it is darker and typically softer with not as good of optical quality.

A hard call but I agree that 35-100 is more versatile. I have it and the 45mm Olympus F1.8 prime. The prime is a beautifully sharp fast lens, great for interviews and cheaper than your 75mm, so that may be another option if you go down the prime path. The 35-100 has a 58mm diameter and the genustech ND's fit it without a step-down ring, so that way you can capitalise on shooting wide open in daylight and getting that great shallow DOF. Anyway a few ideas to think about.
