Luma Matte

Hi everyone, I tried to apply this effect on some graphic design from old works done by someone else long time ago. But when I applied it... well, it was crappy. It turns out it took out other colors with the black I tried to key out... I tried to play with those options : luma, soft, invert luma, hue, etc... And still, it doesn't give a good look for my works.

If you got other ideas, or if I should use a Chroma Key instead, please, tell me!
