Lucky Me...My HVX Shipping from Japan today!

Lucky you.

What did you mean by updated firmware?

I thought all current shipping HVX200's had the same firmware version?

Steve

The 2nd batch shipment has the new firmware I was informed by several sources. Not sure what the firmware did but I feel better that I have an updated version :)

Nice.....the store I use here in Japan said there was a 'production delay' and won't have them until anywhere from Jan 20 ~ Feb 10th. They're not sure yet.

http://www.system5.jp/asp/ItemFile/10014641.html (webpage)

The text in Japanese basically says, 'There's been a production delay, and we expect the camera from Jan 20th ~ Feb 10th. Thank you for your understanding.'

But, as you can see, the price listed there is 529,200 yen, or about 4,630 dollars!
(including tax!)

Norm, you are lucky! Let us know how it goes; looking forward to seeing your footage as well.

I was told from my number on the list I won't get a camera until April or May....

Wow, that's a long time. I'm not on any list and was hoping to buy in March... quite a pipe dream now. Look at it this way, if they're already doing firmware updates, perhaps your batch will have some nice tweaking.

Panasonic is much like our current U.S. President. They don't come forward and give us information until we all are yelling and screaming.

Dear Panasonic,

What is the firmware update exactly that you are doing and can you confirm and/or deny that you are doing it to new cameras. Please list specifics.

Do you plan on updating those cameras that have already been purchased?

Thank you Panasonic,

Yours

RGDFILMS

Worth the wait

Worth the wait

I hope these cams are worth the wait I ordered 3 from B&H. I was told i would recieve them the second week of Jan. now they are telling me the back order will not be filled until mid Feb. What's up with that?

You must not be on the list. There have been 40 more orders since the list was closed on Dec. 31st, and we are not keeping track of those numbers anymore, but we are assuming we will get them taken care of along March/April. The fact is we don't know anything certain about delivery. Panasonic has not given us definitive word on anything, be it dates or numbers. It is always speculative, "You may get some cameras at this date, we may ship a bunch at the end of the month." Until I get the cameras in my warehouse, I say again, we are not sure of anything.

I've been in contact with a Japanese seller who obtained one HVX in Japan with the updated firmware:

http://cgi.ebay.com/PANASONIC-AG-HVX200-ONLY-1-IN-STOCK-NOW_W0QQitemZ5851939596QQcategoryZ10538QQcmdZViewItem

Now the problem is, I can't really afford it! Haha...just ordered it anyway and it will be cash-on-delivery via FedEx.

It's supposed to arrive within 7 business days and I will have a tracking #.

Norm

Hi Norm,
I too secured an order with the same ebay seller for a HVX in stock that suddenly showed up, and was ready for immediate delivery. The price was higher than the Japan list price but still the same as best price in USA.
Hopefully our purchases will work out well.
I feel there's a bit of a risk this way but as it's COD by FedEx then there shouldn't be too much risk, just make the FedEx guy a cup of coffee while we check out the camera before handing over the dosh....
Hopefully too there will be some kind of warranty that we can use to get the cameras fixed if they ever have problems, don't know about this yet...
I had prepaid well in advance for a first shipment camera with an authorised panny dealer but just cancelled it, when not only did they not deliver but also weeks later could not give me ANY specific information re new dates for delivery - bloody disgraceful.
Anyway, I like the Japanese in general and buy alot of equipment directly from them this way - The Japanese are GREAT!
Yes, the list price in Japan is so much lower than the US and Canadian prices and they can give specific details re shipment dates.... I know where my future orders will be going.

Panasonic just informed us today that they may be shipping to us on the 19th and 29th of January. They have no idea how many cameras on either load. If you have tech questions about the HVX, I will be happy to answer them, but please refrain from writing to ask me how many cameras we are receiving, since I don't know, and I can't guess. When they are in my warehouse, I will call and email each individual on the list and let him know his camera is ready. The camera won't go to anyone else if you don't respond right away, there is a generous grace period. If there is a credit card on file the camera will ship automatically.

Wow! Does that mean we can stilll get our cameras before the new year? That would be super-cool!

Your warranty is in Japan. To get it fixed here you will have to pay for it.

Sorry,

Jan
