LPowell: Difference in bitrate/reliability between in-camera black/white and color?

I'm unable to run tests right now, hence the question.

I'd like to know if there's a difference in bitrate/reliability between in-camera black/white and color? In other words: could I run c settings more reliably when shooting in black/white (in-camera) or is LPowell's high reliability patch still my best option? I use a Sandisk class 10 16GB card.

Thanks in advance.

While I haven't tested this myself, I doubt there'd be a difference in reliability between color and b&w Film Mode settings. Neither the AVCHD nor MJPEG encoders have separate monochrome encoding modes and would simply encode minimal color data in the video recording. While this may well reduce the bitrate, it wouldn't make a difference to my High Reliability Patch.

Thanks for replying LPowell.

There's indeed a huge difference in bitrate -> file size between b/w and color. From the top of my head the b/w files are less than half the size (I could be mistaken with that particular info, but they really are relatively small). I shot standard b/w (0/0/0) with your High Reliability Patch and the shots look good, although a bit soft here and there. Nothing to do with your patch of course. And Canon FD lenses aren't exactly of any help in the sharpness department.
