I shot an hour long interview on my DVX200, recording to a PIX-e5 recorder. The file is about 40 GB. I attempted to copy the entire contents of the PIX-5's USB drive to another external USB 3 drive on my Lenovo p70 Thinkpad. A message said it would take 3 hours.
I tried the same transfer on a Macbook Air. It took 4 minutes. On the MacBook Air, some files and folders on the PIX-e5 drive are hidden (metadata files, I believe) did not show up during the transfer.
I went back to the PC and copied just the clip. This took the same 4 minutes as did the MacBook Air.
What's up with all those hidden files? They have no bulk, yet they gum up the transfer on the PC. I recognize that metadata fiels can be important but 4 hours! I will ask Video Devices the same question, but they aren't around today.
Thanks.
