I'm going to assume this is a propper place for this question. I'm almost definitally going to buy a DVX100A. I am shooting a short film in two weeks, and alot of it is in very low light. (nighttime, outside) Some locations have good street lighting, others do not. How does the DVX hold up in these conditions?

Re: Low Light

About as good as any camera can, but it'll hold up a whole lot better if you'll just add a little light to the scene. No camera does a good job in dark conditions.

Re: Low Light

I think that many people don't understand that when you see a night time seen in any movie, it is not actually a low light scene. If you are shooting a film that will have "low light" scenes, you have to learn how to "light" them to look "low light". I don't know if that makes sence, but anything shot without proper light will look like crap, even if you have the worlds fanciest camera that can shoot in total darkness (without infrared) will look like crap. Just because a camera can shoot in low light doesn't mean that it will look good. Things always look better with proper lighting, hence the root of the word "photography" which means "painting with light". When shooting a night scene, use lights to highlight your subject while leaving other things dark. Or better yet, ask Barry nicely what he does when he shoots for the "low light" scenes. :D
