Hey guys. Im using my DVX in low light. I just upgraded to a high quality laptop screen and maybe this is the issue but, im noticing a lot more grain in my low light shooting then i ever have in the past. a night and day difference.

i never noticed it before but this is pretty bad. is there any hope using a dvx in low light at all. like i said, i used to work on a pretty dingy laptop and maybe never noticed. but now im using a XPS M1730 with a high quality screen and its a huge difference.

Ive shot with my redrock 35mm adapter, in my house, in darker places but never noticed this problem before. can someone please guide me. thanks

well the better the camera then the more light you will need. You could try and add some gain and film like 60i. But it may also help if you told us what settings you were filming with. It is; however, normal to get some grain with the dvx in low light. That is one con about the dvx it isn't so great in low lighting; but makes up hugely when there is adequate lighting. If you are all about a sharp image in low light then the sony fx1 would probably do better.

Did you have the Gain setting on H? The higher gain you have set, the more grain you'll get in the picture. So if you had the gain set to H, there will be some grain if it's dark.

How much does the lower shutter speed affect the blurriness? Could I safely use 1/24 while panning around to follow people dancing at a wedding reception?
