FS5: Low Light Tip

Just a tip to fellow FS5 users, when shooting indoors or low light - disengage the variable ND filter as using will always have the lowest ND engaged. Disengage and set to 0db. Works a treat.

Could you elaborate your tip a little more? I am precisely having a little trouble with the FS5 in lower light situations (not even talking about low light situations, just occasions where there is less light than ideally).

And by the way, is there any way to rate the FS5 at a lower ISO for Slog while being able to see the actual results in its included monitor? I know it does not have Cine EI. I just do not know if adding 1/4 of ND or anything like that will help with noise issues. I have the camera and like it a lot but even with the latest firmware I see too much noise! I guess 3200 ISO is too much for it. And simply trying to overexpose in run and gun situations by guessing – without seeing the actual results in the monitor or having appropriate exposure cards – does not help at all.

In low light switch the variable ND filter to Preset, and dial the silver ND knob to Clear.

Do you have the View Assist turned on in for the LCD, this makes exposing much easier.

Also i great resource is Doug Jensons FS5 Master Class. The 1st chapter is free:
