Low Light Lens for GH1

I was wondering which lens would be the best option for the GH1 while shooting in low-light conditions;

1) The Panasonic 20mm f1.7 pancake lens,
or,
2) The Sigma 30mm f1.4 with necessary lens adapter

Anu suggestions???

i had the same dilemma. I would go with the 20mm only because I decided I would want autofocus over speed. And in this case, the difference in speed isn't that much.

Play around with the stock lens and change the aperture from one increment to the next and that'll be the difference in speed (roughly) between these two lenses.

i usually shoot at f2 with my 1.4's. I chose the 20mm for compactness/weight, autofocus and wider angle. If you do alot of focus pulls go the sigma, its the one thing that i miss on the 20mm, the manual focus feel.

You don't want the kludge of an adapter. The difference between 1.4 and 1.7 is almost nothing. Plus the 20mm will give you a slightly wider field of view which will be more handy.

If low light is you biggest concern go with the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.

If auto focus is a concern go with the 20mm f/1.7 Pancake.

I wouldn't forget about FDs if you can go used - Canon's 50mm f/1.2 (either in FD or FL mount) are nothing to sneeze at, they're quite sharp even wide open - I have the older 55mm f/1.2 FL mount and I'm pretty stunned by how good it is and they are much easier to manually focus than say, the Sigma 30mm f/1.4.
