Low light last minute disaster music video turning out ok after all

A while ago I told you guys a story about how I was hired at the last minute by an artist who basically said this:

"I got a bunch a hot chics..... and I got a rapper.. he'd drunk...and I got a bunch of crazy outfits... and jewelry, and I want you to shoot my music video tomorrow."

There was no story.. no planning, no nothing... I showed up with a smoke machine, some crazy old light ball I had, and a friend who is at least a decent gaffer... and threw this together.. it actually held up fairly well for as low light as it is...

This is a rough first edit and not really done I just let it keep rendering out but 4 mins on really needs work with the layering of orgiastic bodies and bling bling bling grabbing and ending.... I should have the finished version done in about a week or so and it should be a bit more coherent and have some more of the penthouse upstairs shots where there was good lighting. To me it's like Moulin Rouge mixed with Prince's Get Off.. but at a cocktail party without any budget.

Notice the fantastic black and white rooftop shot though - done without a focus puller with the face tracking and it worked like a charm.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get the opening shot lightning bolt in there and make it look more stormy in that and the car walk up shot... can I do some sort of mask? I'm not really an after fx guy... in stuff like Dune and what not they just do that cheap dissolve in of a storm and that sometimes works sometimes doesn't...

And remember, when nothing makes any sense! DREAM sequence! Yay to cliche!

I like the B&W footage. The specular flares are a bit distracting, but I don't know what the trend is in rap videos, so...

I agree with you that the flares are overdone but the client loves it and actually wanted me to turn them up more. I cranked the stockings b&w footage to give it that grainy 16mm look. The b&w on the roof is as sharp and detailed as this camera can get and no for this time I actually shot in color and did b&w in post but honestly it doesn't really matter I knew i was going to use that shot as b&w anyway.

The indoor iso's are pretty pumped... 800 and 1600. Shot with kit & lumix 20mm pancake.

Tweaking and cleaning up the edit quite a bit.... will post when it's done.
