In low light, the AVCHD encoder gives very low bitrates - I get 15mbps consistently. Since this is 25P, there is no option to do MJPEG.
Any idea what options would work in low light to bump up the AVCHD bitrate ?

unless someone can figure out how to do constant bitrate in avchd i think your stuck with whatever the codec decides to give ya. does it look good or terrible at 15Mbit? how does it compare to say 50Mbit MJPEG?
It looks very soft. In order to work with the light, I am using my 50mm f0.95 lens wide lens. At f0.95, its already soft. The wavelet compression used in AVCHD shows up as softness under high compression.
Very frustrating, MJPEG is clearly sharper with more detail.
