Low-Cost HD Monitoring Solution-Berry/Jarred/anyone advise? please help!

I have the dell and it works great. Color is very close to my studio monitor and almost exactly what the HVX flip screen looks like. Sure it's big but then again that's the point I suppose.

Ghetto set up for it using the wall mount to bolt it to a plank of wood then using u bolts attacthing the wood to a handcart/dolly. Toss a 12v car battery on the bottom plate of the dolly for power and it's weight keeps set up sturdy. I can wheel the monitor right next to the camera if I need to. I need to get a longer cable though as the one that comes with the camera is short. I check the lighting and unplug right now.

I use the s-video out into a JVC 12" studio monitor to double check color and contrast.

Currently the camera seems to shoot a milky image with little saturation. I have it set f5 using 720p with cine gamma. I have not messed with the settings on the camera. The color corrected footage looks great though and I can push the darks and sat in post which is a lot safer for me. First thing I noticed was has far I can push the color adjustments without getting artifacts and the blocky chunks of color that would appear on the DVX footage when trying to push it too far.

FYI- I have some JVC-HD100 footage and it does seem to hold the highlights better but other than that it's color looks and reacts a lot like the HVX footage. The big monitor showed that the JVC stuff I shot has an annoying ghosting effect on motion and the circles of confusion look funky and blobish with banding. The HVX looks much better and no ghosting at all. The JVC seems to be a bit sharper overall. Both shot in Daylight exteriors no fillters. The big monitor does show how much vibration the lens picks up when zoomed in and hand held. Something you could get away with using the DVX but can't with these HD cams. Although both handle steady cams reallly well. So having the big monitor to check your shots is a big MUST if you are going handheld or shooting on something like an overpass or bridge where the traffic vibrations can be clearly seen in the footage. Dolly rails need to be very smooth also. Cheap jib arms if at all loose will show vibration and shake also. Anyone who has used a pro-cam will be aware of this I guess but us DVX guys migrating up are not used to such touchiness.
