I just installed the hack on my GH1,using one of lpowells settings, and the quality looks great in both avchd and mpeg formats..but I ran a test to check the bitrate after the hack with both mediainfo and bitrate viewer and it shows the average bitrate in avchd to be only around 10,232,000 with a peak of 14,000,000, while in mpeg it shows it around 50,000,000. Shouldnt the AVCHD bitrate be much higher? thanks, John

low avchd bitrates after hack?

MR Fanny is correct. If you shoot a very complex scene with a lot of detail (foliage, Pappa's test chart, etc.) the AVCHD bitrate will be closer to the 50Mbit you are referring to. In general you will get an increased bitrate for scenes with not much detail - increased enough so that you have no more codec mud and a lot more detailed scenes. MPEG will be constant but with limited recording time (until Vitaliy can figure out how to do file spanning).
