Heh heh... throwing out that question in the Cafe forum is always asking for trouble. I would recommend one of the other sections, for example the Cinematography section.
And to answer your question... yes, the DVX is very capable for that purpose.
Gotta admit, that was pretty funny. They're right. The DVX is very capable. The distributor I'm working with seemed to have no idea what it was shot on until I told them. Most people think I nabbed a bunch of film ends and put them together El Mariachi style.
I remebered when people were saying the DVX would strobe with fast movements, but this doesn't seem to be true. You'll be able to do your love story just fine.
Well, don't say that. It definitely does strobe when you're shooting in 24P - it's just that FILM running at 24 frames per second strobes EXACTLY the same
Problem is people were saying the strobbing was so bad it shouldn't be used for fast motion. When I did my personal test it was perfectly fine. Obviously that was a short lived debate. The DVX100 is the lowend king matched only by the XL2 and some say that isn't true. Who knows?
I'm actually shooting a love story as we speak. Shooting it for a couple's wedding. So far so good, and it's quite soft. I'm planning on beutifying the heck out of it with some filters though.
Go for it. That little love story and the wedding earned me 3Gs.
Fair question - I knew someone would ask it. Basically I am shooting their love story over the course of 10 months. Both they and I are busy, so I meet with them for 2 hours every second weekend to shoot. Keep in mind though, I'm not doing the usual love story in the park. I'm doing kung fu scenes, car chases and stuff.
The wedding will be just the one day - actually going to be my first, which is why it's hilarious that they're paying me that much. Well, I can never resist a challenge, so bring it on. I'll post some grabs soon - it's shaping up well.
