love story on DVX?

Re: love story on DVX?

There a tons of visual effects you can achieve with the in-camera settings. Check out Barry's guide.

(That's a free plug, Green!)

Re: love story on DVX?

sorry, couldnt help the porn joke.

seriously though, yeah man, i think you can totaly do nice soft intimate scenes with the dvx. its all about lighting i think.

Re: love story on DVX?

Don't forget that if you do get that rough look, it makes it feel a bit more real, and could end up working in your favor. Make it more naturalistic.

Heh heh... throwing out that question in the Cafe forum is always asking for trouble. I would recommend one of the other sections, for example the Cinematography section.

And to answer your question... yes, the DVX is very capable for that purpose.

Re: love story on DVX?

Ai yes David. I was, however, specifically refering to the soft-skin feature. :)

Re: love story on DVX?

omg

You guys are too funny! (Rich and his porn, david and his rubs the lotion on the skin, neil with his NG's!)

LMAO!

The answer is yes to the above posted question of course. Just make sure you have enough bounce on her arse.

Re: love story on DVX?

ohhhhh,

I get it. This is the funny forum. Okay. Still new.

Just make sure in the future you guys receive as well as you give. Heh heh. I can be funny too.

chris (I know funny. That's funny)

Re: love story on DVX?

HAH! Yes, the most important thing to learn about this forum is that we are all WAY too sarcastic.

Re: love story on DVX?

Gotta admit, that was pretty funny. They're right. The DVX is very capable. The distributor I'm working with seemed to have no idea what it was shot on until I told them. Most people think I nabbed a bunch of film ends and put them together El Mariachi style.

I remebered when people were saying the DVX would strobe with fast movements, but this doesn't seem to be true. You'll be able to do your love story just fine.

Re: love story on DVX?

Well, don't say that. It definitely does strobe when you're shooting in 24P - it's just that FILM running at 24 frames per second strobes EXACTLY the same

Re: love story on DVX?

Problem is people were saying the strobbing was so bad it shouldn't be used for fast motion. When I did my personal test it was perfectly fine. Obviously that was a short lived debate. The DVX100 is the lowend king matched only by the XL2 and some say that isn't true. Who knows?

Re: love story on DVX?

You guys are bastards, but in a good way ; )

I'm actually shooting a love story as we speak. Shooting it for a couple's wedding. So far so good, and it's quite soft. I'm planning on beutifying the heck out of it with some filters though.

Go for it. That little love story and the wedding earned me 3Gs.

Re: love story on DVX?

Fair question - I knew someone would ask it. Basically I am shooting their love story over the course of 10 months. Both they and I are busy, so I meet with them for 2 hours every second weekend to shoot. Keep in mind though, I'm not doing the usual love story in the park. I'm doing kung fu scenes, car chases and stuff.

The wedding will be just the one day - actually going to be my first, which is why it's hilarious that they're paying me that much. Well, I can never resist a challenge, so bring it on. I'll post some grabs soon - it's shaping up well.
