Well, it's been brought to my attention (by myself, being a bit of a narcissist) that, while I have had plenty to say about everyone else's films, I haven't stepped up and shown one of my own.

Let me know what you think...

Oh no, do I have to be one of those sad people who has to reply to his own post with, "no comments?"

HA! That's a karaoke video of the classical style, alright! I've always dreamed of directing karaoke videos professionally, and you only strengthen my resolve with this piece. Bravo!

Thanks! Yeah, I used to joke about wanting to make karaoke videos, so when the video challenge came up last year I jumped at the chance.

Wow, 58 views and one response. I was hoping to at least get raked over the coals by Old Corpse.

Didn't really laugh. Sorry, just not my type of humor. It just felt awkward to me. :S

To each their own I guess.

No problem. Not everyone who has seen it has been amused. Thanks for your response, though. I'd rather have a critical response than no response at all.

What would you say felt awkward? And what aspect of the humor didn't appeal to you?

Mainly the first guy dressed as a girl I found awkward. I found the scene with the girl was cute but didn't get a chuckle out of me. Then the cuts to the random things, people dancing on a stage, felt like it was trying to be some funny artsy film, but didn't do it for me. I'll admit that I didn't finish watching it. Don't mean to offend though.

I think it's just that everything was overdone. Especially with the girl. Her reactions, the things she did, it was all overdone and no real punchline. I prefer comedy to be more subtle. Trying to be serious (to be funny), but obviously not. Also the fact that it was over a karaoke song with people laughing, it pulled us away. Would work better with just the real song IMO.

Also, what was the audience laughing at? Were they viewing this video, or the acts on stage? Or did you just take a recording of a karaoke and make the video over it? The laughing confused me. But I guess cause I didn't find it funny.

Good points. The audio is from the performance last year when the video was first shown. I agree that the laughter feels disconnected and viewing the video without the live soundtrack might be better.

It's too bad that you didn't watch the whole thing because there is, in fact, a big punchline to the whole thing - a couple of them, actually. But if you weren't amused by what you had seen already, then no need to go on further.

Regarding everything being over done, well, it was taking on the karaoke video genre, so that's to be expected.

Seriously, though, thanks for your comments.
