Loud sound = Picture interference?

I just ran across a new one...I was out testing my new DVX100A in my backyard in 24PA.  Great picture, sound, etc.. However, my son decides to start banging a plastic hammer on his play table.  Needless to say, it was kinda loud and percussive.  Anyway, when reviewing my footage, those loud wacks caused my picture to flash/quick white horizontal lines.  Only during the really loud "wacks".

Question:  Should really loud percussive sounds cause this phenomenon?

I haven't checked to see if the gain control was on or not.  I don't believe it was and it did probably peak out.

Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has seen this...

Thanks!

well, it shouldn't!!!

Re: Loud sound = Picture interference?

where was the camera? if it was lying on a surface in proximity to the hammer banging, maybe the quick judder of the camera was enough to cause a quick strobe (like you get on quick pans--it sounds similar to the look).

other than that, i have no idea. i would certainly like to know what's up with this as well.

I was standing holding the camera about 6 ft away. Now that I think of it, I am going to check and see if it is the deck I am playing back on. I don't remember seeing it in the LCD. Perhaps the hot audio signal is affecting my playback deck or monitor.

I'll post my results. Thanks for the replies.
