LOTS of HVX200's on Ebay.

With the pending release of the AF100, are the days of the HVX200 numbered? Or are people just dumping them so they can by AF100's.

Your thoughts?

The interchangable lenses would be *incredible* no doubt.

As an owner of an HVX, I'd love to see Panasonic's whole line of cameras do well. I'd hate to buy a camera and then have the whole world stop just so I can stay on the cutting edge. Since the HVX came out I've seen some GREAT stuff filmed by dvx100 users and I don't give it a second thought.

My thoughts are that people thought just owning a nice HD rig was enough to be successful in the video business. They found out it takes talent, determination and TIME. So after learning the cold hard truth they are up for sale.

the HVX200 dumping that I'm seeing on ebay and on craigslist in the bigger cities is mostly about people getting Dslr's. A year ago it was hard to find a hvx200 for sale on craigslist here in NYC...now there's a few new post going up every other day ...used hvx price's are going down rapidly. I paid 2300 for my hvx200 last March...I can get a hvx200A for that price today.

My friend is selling his XHA1 for an HVX, and hes getting the HVX for about 1500 I believe.
Am I jealous? No, still can't match the T2i

I just listed my HVX200a on eBay. I am rocking with the Canon T2i until I can afford this new camera you all are talking about.

I do quite a bit of corporate and documentary, so I don't see myself getting the AF-100 anytime soon.

the next camera I purchase is one that can shoot 120fps.

what camera shoots at 120 fps?

versions of the red scarlet are supposed to. but when or IF it ever becomes available is still up for wild debate and speculation...

I just recently saw all those HVX200 go up for sale, and was suprised at how many I found this time around. Figured it was because of the AF-100 anouncment, btw its list price is $4995.

I still dont like the DSLR's just too much jello, and its not really good for videography since you have to hunt for focus. Hoping the Af-100 will fix that.

You can expect any time a new camera comes out a lot of people are going to look to "upgrade", so there's no doubt the recent influx of used HVX200(A) and HPX170's is related to the AF100.

HOWEVER....

The AF100 is not an upgrade, they really are two entirely different beasts. Depending on your needs, one might fit better than the other, but they really have a potential to complement each other very nicely.

The best option, if you can afford it, would be to hang onto the 200/A/170 and get the AF100 in addition to it. I think many instinctually go "must sell old gear to buy new gear", in this case the two together give you the options to have the gear you need for the right situation.

good point. will p2 cards & etc come down in price?

I think the T2i is a great b-roll camera ... But I wouldn't sell a hvx200 for one...thats a overall downgrade to me...If I was doing mostly cinema style shooting that would be a great camera.

I was not meaning to sell my hvx200a for the canon t2i because I have both. I have sold my HVX200a because I just don't use it much in the field. I mainly use canon t2i for music videos because that is all I am doing right now.
