Hey Guys,
I've been a long time observer of the forum but haven't had much reason to post before now. I'm part of a film group in the LA Area called the SoCal Film Group (www.socalfilm.com) that shoots 10-12 shorts a year. We have a regular screening program at the Silverlake Film Festival and this year they invited us to run their 48 Film Festival which we're calling the "Lost Weekend Film Festival".
Jarred & Co., I hope you don't mind me posting our brief press release here:
Taking place the first weekend of the Silver Lake Film Festival (March 24-26), the "Lost Weekend" short film competition gives teams of contestants 48 hours to conceive, write, cast, film, edit, and premiere a short film, based on specific parameters assigned at the beginning of the contest.
The contest will officially begin the evening of Friday, March 24th when the filmmaking teams receive their instructions. Teams then have until the evening of Sunday, March 26th to complete their films.
Completed films, from the sublime to the ridiculous, will be shown at a very special Silver Lake Film Festival screening party at the elegantly goth-fabulous Club Monte Cristo (3100 Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles (map) ) on March 28th at 9:30 PM.
The first annual Lost Weekend awards will be announced at the screening, and winners can the claim snappy prizes provided by our beloved sponsors.
But the party doesn't end there. In fine Ray Milland style, The Lost Weekend continues at the lovely Monte Cristo way into the wee hours with a full bar, DJ, dancing, lounge, rooftop patio and a cornucopia of unusual amusements.
Lost Weekend entry spaces are limited.
To register, contact us at lostweekend@socalfilm.com. Please include "Lost Weekend" in the subject.
I hope that my fellow DVXUser affectionados in the LA area will join us for a weekend of digital mayhem!
Thanks!
