I was clearing out the virtual files in p2 viewer and highlited and hit the delete button. Now all the original files are gone. They were on an external hard drive. Is there any way to recover or am I really dead..
Use a file recovery utility. Until you get the files back, DO NOT WRITE TO THE DRIVE. Any disk writes may overwrite the portions of the disk where the deleted files used to reside.
If you don't have a recovery utility yet, you should be able to find something suitable here.
Thanks THoff. I used the recovery tool and there was data recovered the size of each 4 gig card. However when I try to import to Edius using either the P2 select tool or File open for a video file it reads Failed to Open. Is there another way to get opened? Thanks
ps I noticed that the last clip file was not included but was not erased from the original. I copied and pasted into folder but was still not successful in opening.
Ouch. So how do you clear out the clips in P2 viewer without losing the actual files. Also, as I mentioned earlier, I was able to retrieve the files and it shows 3.54 gig per card so the info is there but I cannot read. Seems I remember Barry talking about needing the Last Clip file. That was not part of what was recovered but it was not deleted from the original. So should I put the restored files back in the folder with the LastClip file?
