lost clip

I transfered a 16 gig file using p2Genie and a 2 minute clip did not transfer on to the hard drive. When I have the card in the PCMCia slot I can view the clip from the card but not on the harddrive. When I pull out the card then the p2 viewer sees the file again. There is a pink question mark next to the file in p2 genie. I tried transfering the file several times. I am in Poland shooting NOW and have to delete the card and worried I will lose this very important clip.

I opened Edius Broadcast to view clip and it does not read the clip and it does not appear as a clip. But again, I can see if from p2 viewer. HELP

Is it the second part of a spanned clip? If so, there's nothing wrong and you don't need to worry about it. You shouldn't be seeing spanned clips separately, they should appear as one icon (which is probably how P2 Viewer is behaving?)

When I import to Edius it still does not see the file. The clip is missing. Strange indeed. I think when I was on a shoot and downloading to the laptop hard drive it became full and an error occured. But still the card was not theoretically altered. Whatever the case I must erase the card shortly. I have backed it up 3 times to different drives and still can't see clip.

OK I logged all the clips from other cards and see the lost file in another folder. Now I see what you mean by spanned (over two cards). thanks

I have a similar problem, can someone please help me!!!!

When I tried to log and transfer some footage into FCP 7 a couple clips would not allow me to transfer because the were spanned or partial spanned. I renamed the clip on the log and transfer window and then my clip on the P2 card went grey, had an X over it and I couldn't see the clip. I used the clip (loop repair) function (as the normal clip repair option wasn't available) and I got back only 20 minutes of the clip with an exclamation point with a purple background in the upper right of the clip. When I did the loop repair did it possibly give the clip a different MXF file name? About an hour is missing from the clip and if I can't get it back it's going to cost me $700. Did I possibly corrupt the MXF file or is the clips not spanned correctly between the cards now because of the rename? Please Help! I need this clip to be restored to the original.
