lost and extra files in Avid Mediafiles/mxf/1/

I have 2 problems

1. in the Avid Mediafiles/mxf/1/ folder, I have render effects files from sequence like: dips, dissolves, motion clips, audio fades. They have the .mxf extension. Why are they there? How did they become mxf and not omf?

I plan to delete after project is complete to see what would happen

2. I transfer several audio/video files from hvx-200 to to my Avid XPHD 5.2 Mediafiles/mxf/1/ and there are some that the avid media tool does not see but they are there when I search the folder. I have refresh media directories, still no luck. Any help??

1. When you're in an HD project Avid uses MXF for everything. Including precomputes. OMF doesn't exist in HD projects.

2. This happened to me once and I'm wracking my brain trying to remember what I did. I'll post it as soon as I think of it.

I know that's not a lot of help, but at least I answered the first question. :)

thanks krestofre
I have not done any HD projects I've been shooting all DV50

Are you ready for more Ice in southern MO on Sunday?

Since you're not doing HD project, then my second answer would be that you have Avid set to use the MXF container instead of the OMF one. Go to your settings tab and choose Media Creation. Go to the last tab "Media Type." I bet you have MXF selected.

Really there's not much difference between MXF and OMF as far as Avid's handling of the media is concerned.

And no, I'm not ready for more ice. I still haven't had time to clean up my yard from the last ice storm. I keep asking myself why I haven't moved to North Carolina yet. :(
