Loss of White Bal/ Manual Exposure

I have two questions on the DVX:

1) If you change your battery after setting white balance, do you lose your white balance setting? I thought not, but it seemed to change after the battery change.

2) I noticed today while in manual exposure mode that the f stop setting (as indicated on my lcd screen) was changing. Shouldn't this remain fixed while in manual exposure mode?

Thanks much!

1) If you shut the camera down and not allow the battery to run down, it will retain all the current settings, including your white balance.

2) You must have hit "IRIS" button at some point in time, since if the aperture is changing, the camera obviously is no longer in manual mode.

I changed the battery, so there would no longer be any power to the dvx for a short period of time while I change the battery. Does this mean I lost my white balance?

I'm sure I didn't hit the iris button, because when I noticed the aperture changing I did hit the iris button and it changed to auto exposure. I then hit the iris button to change to manual, but then again noticed the variation in the aperture setting. It sounds like my manual exposure is not being set??

You are fine and can change the battery (and not loose any settings) as long as you turn the camera off prior to changing the battery.

Regarding the IRIS mode, go into the camera's menu and select "4. AUTO SW" and verify that "A. IRIS" is set to "OFF".

Somehow I had inadvertantly pushed the "auto" button while I was taping, so regardless of whether I hit the iris button or not, I was in auto exposure mode. This also explains my other question about the white balance variation. I am an Idiot!!
