Loss of good color on export. Comments?

Birdfeeder Clip I was experimenting with remote control last weekend using the denizens of my bird feeder. On my caluibrated HD monitor in FCP, the colors were eye-popping, especially the cardinal. but on export everything looks a little washed, like some loss of contrast. Here's the details:

shot at 720p24pn, with the std Scene 5 (Film Cam), at both 24 fps and 60 fps.
from FCP, exported using QT Compression, Broadband High, H264 and the other defaults.

Is this result just because of the export method, or why do you think I'm not getting what I'm seeing on the monitor? Thanks.

Well, do what I did. Place a few seconds of color bars at the head of the footage, then export the same way as before. Pull the new footage back into the editor and see how the bars line up versus what you had before.

My mpeg4 renders were a lot closer than I thought they would be.

I notice you said you were using quicktime export, but there are SO MANY codecs that go in the quicktime wrapper. Which one did you use? Which h264 codec was it?

I'll have to go back and look. In the dialog, I don't remember it being listed specifically. I like the color bars idea, too.
