loosing quality when capturing

do i lose quality when i capture in imovie hd over fcp?

i have seen this loss in quality when my drummer used to edit on imovie. So yeah, i think there is some sort of a quality shift.

I don't have the facts to prove it but I am 99% sure that yes, you are loosing quality when you import via iMovie.
If not when importing, when exporting then as the codecs are certainly more basic in iMovie.
But sure at 99% only....
