Hello everyone, I'm Filipe Almeida and I'm a fellow film student form Portugal. I'm 2 months away from finishing my degree and the last project is to produce and direct a short film that's called Loose Ends (Pontas Soltas in Portuguese).
My script won the contest and I already put together the team, and I'm directing. We are going to have some important names form the Portuguese movie business. They enjoyed the project and accepted working with us for free, but we have to pay them their travelling costs and hotel, as well as food, etc.
We study in a private school, and we pay 532 dollars (406€) monthly, which in our country is a lot. I work part-time on the weekends to pay for my education, as my parents can't afford so much. The school has some very nice teachers and some important names, but the board is a mess. We don't have any money support because we are shooting digital with our OWN cameras! The budget the school has went all to my classmates who are going to shoot on film (2 shorts), and need to go to Madrid to do the revelation and DI. The only thing we will get from the school is some lightening and the sound equipment.
We urge the need for some money because our own the we saved to do this, isn't enough. We have so may things to pay for, including the temporary license from the police to shoot blank gun's which is around 500 dollars, plus paying the cop to be there and the gun's rental. We will also need to pay for a composer for the OST which is 300 dollars. And so many other things...
We tried to use the similar crowd funding system that Kickstarter uses, as it doesn't work in my country we tried on the same system but from a portuguese website, but in my country no one supports this projects. We don't have much input, and we're just asking for 1300 dollars just to help us pay for some things like the ones I mentioned up top.
