Hey guys, if someone can please help Im sure you can. Ive decided to go with RedRock for a 35mm stuff. Ive got about 1200. Ive looked at the site and I am confused. Can someone give me a link or adive on what are the essentials. Ive heard a 28mm lens is the best. what about other things. Thanks

do i need the follow focus and does the M2 flip the image? if not, whats the workaround.

If you plan to ever pull focus, you'll want the follow focus.

Yes, M2 flips the image (it's recorded upside down).

The workaround is to keep your monitors upside-down on the set and flip the image in post.

On the HVX I was able to pop the hinge and use a pipe cleaner to flip the image on the camera itself. Maybe there's a similar workaround with DVX...?

I would say no to that.

The point of the RedRock is generally to get shots with a much shallower depth of field than the barebones HVX allows for. Wide lenses like a 28mm almost make it pointless to have the RedRock at all. I find that 35mm and up, particularly 50mm - 80mm, gives the more desired cinematic look that RedRock adapter users usually seek.

Try to get the fastest lens you can afford...Ie 50mm F1.2 or F1.4 and a 85mm f1.4 or F1.8.
