looking to get a nice rig

I was going to get the RRM2 package which comes with rods and then buy the flip module and either a follow focus or a matte box not sure which. But now im not sure if the RR is the best way to go. the sgpro is .2 stops darker then it and the letus is a little bit more pricey then the RR with the flip. (I am using Nikon lenses and letus charges 40 for the lens adapter and I think 200 for the HVX optimization kit which comes out to over 2000)

True... keep in mind that with Redrock... the adapter is supported solely by the rods. It needs no "Brevis to Rods" attachment or a Letus rails mount... instead it provides it's own means of supporting itself even with the Redrock flip module, dubbed the microX. The Redrock mattebox is great. There's a wait for it. The redrock baseplate is solid. The follow focus is more bang than buck. It really is a great product (especially the pro follow focus) for what you pay. And the whips are great too.

It's really a matter of which adapter you want to shoot with... However a lot can be said for spinners vs. oscillators.

I think I am going to have to go with the M2. I base this decision off the fact that it seems to be the most simple assembly (aside from the brevis). I also know allot more about the M2 then any other adapters. As for monitors I would prefer to go old fashion if I can. How exactly do you measure focus with the M2. I know the thing that looks like a handle is actually meant as a start point for a tape measure. But once you find out 6ft 8in what do you feed into the camera/lens?

I fit an HVX into such a camera bag setup myself! You can get larger Pelican cases.

You take that 6' 8" measurement and set the focus on your 35mm lens (Nikon, Canon, Lomo, C/Y, whatever) by twisting the focus ring.

You stop down the lens until it gives you the Depth of Focus you're looking for. You try to leave your camera in it's sweet spot. The HVX's is around f/3 to f/4... I think (don't quote me)
