Looking to film an HD project in 4:3 aspect ratio need help with settings

Hello HVX/HPX users,

I was thinking about filming a short skating project using my HVX200 and HPX170 cameras while trying to emulate the vx2100 (or any SD mini dv for that matter) aspect of 4:3 but with updated image quality of an HD camera.
Is there a way i can film in 720/1080 but with a 4:3 aspect ratio instead of 16:9.
Is shooting in 480i the only option for 4:3?

Please let me know what you folks think.
