Looking to buy an fs700

Hello, I'm looking to buy an fs700 but was wondering if its the best time to get one. The camera has been out for over a year and as far as I know has stayed roughly the same price. So what I want to know is can I expect a price drop any time soon?
I know it can be pretty hard to tell unless theres been some news about it, but maybe either by looking at past trends or newer models yet to come out, you could possibly predict if the price will go down.
I can wait a few months but if theres going to be no changes anytime soon may aswell take the plunge now.

Also has anyone used the camera for any green screen work? If so could you let me know if its any good and whether you can do it at a higher frame rate aswell

Thanks guys!

(ps if anyones willing to sell thiers please do get in contact!)

Hi. I'm thinking about selling mine. i got it a year and a half ago, camera is upgraded and works fine. I bought it for one particular project, doesnt have a lot hours, it's in excellent shape. I will sell it with the movcam rig (minus baseplate and handles) Kit lens is also included. PM me and i'll send you photos, video and we can discuss a fair price. Thanks
Anthony

I'm also looking to buy one soon, and am wondering the same thing.
The FS700R and FS700RH were released just a couple of months ago along with a €3-500 price cut (here in Europe at least).

I have to get it pretty soon and right now there's no real competition to the FS700 for my needs.

I have an entire bundle for sale...

hey guys thanks for replying, not sure if buying abroad is good idea due to import duty, no idea if it would effect 2nd hand items, but would cost like another £1000 if it did

came across this for the fs700r:

http://www.proav.co.uk/Sony-NEX-FS700R-4K-Super-35mm-NXCAM-Camcorder/p33090.aspx

seems to be a good price and cheapest brand new I can find. As far as I know the fs700r is the same as other fs700 cameras (minus RH) just with upgrade included. is that correct?

For the UK guys here, I have an FS700(E) and extras for sale. Its genuine UK stock sold from CVP. Its 6 months old so there is 6 months left on the original manufacturers warranty. Its in pristine condition, boxed, with all original accessories and printed materials. Its only been used on one production that lasted approximately 5-6 days so has VERY minor use. I'm selling it with a Samyang (Rokinon) 35mm T1.5 cinema lens and a 32GB Sandisk Extreme SD card. The S-Log2 upgrade cost has just dropped massively for the original FS700 model so this is a perfect opportunity to pick up the camera and upgrade for well under the cost for the "R" version and this kit includes an awesome cine-lens.

Lovely camera to work with. UK sale only.

FS700E
Samyang 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens
Sandisk Extreme 32GB SD Card
All boxed with original materials
All still under warranty
VERY minor use - pristine condition - practically new (slightly dusty body due to lack of use!
:))

£4800 - updated kit price!!!!
£4650 for Body Only - new offer

Message me if interested. More pictures can be provided on request.

I bought a FS700R a week ago from CVP. They offer VAT-free sales to Europe, so it was £4800. Pretty good deal!
Creative Ventures has it for €5695 and also offer VAT-free sales. So if you have a vat registered company you could order from them if you're in the UK. CVP in the UK has been superb to deal with though, really can recommend them if you wanna shop in the UK.

Lowered the asking price of my kit (shown in post above) to better reflect current market cost of "R" version (using CVP as baseline). £4800 - GREAT value!!!!

Just have in mind that the £4800 is +VAT unless you have a VAT-registered company and ordering from outside the UK but within the EU.

VAT has no bearing on the price listed earlier. This is a private sale from an individual (myself) not a retailer (such as CVP). Being VAT registered is only applicable to an individual making a business purchase (In the case of either a sole trader or LTD company) from a retailer where VAT is added to the list price. In the EU an individual can negate the VAT at the time of purchase, in the UK, you have to claim it back from the Tax man.

To clarify again, I am an individual selling equipment as you would via Gumtree / Ebay / Craigslist. I am not a retailer selling equipment where VAT is added on to the asking price. The asking prices of £4800 for the kit or £4650 for the body only are not subject to VAT and VAT cannot be negated from the asking price as I am not a retailer.

If you are looking at purchasing my kit and you are either a sole-trader or operate a LTD company, you can list equipment as a fixed asset for your company and offset the costs against your companies tax liabilities. However this is something that you are solely responsible for handling and has no bearing on my asking price.

I think dmitrizigany's earlier post confused things...

Thanks for clarifying, it's an important distinction if the potential buyer is (like us) a VAT registered UK Company that could claim the VAT back.

That's fair enough. In your situation the only way you could claim the VAT back in the UK would be to buy new from a retailer where VAT has been added at the time of purchase. For a used purchase from an individual like me where VAT is not applicable, the only way to offset the cost against your business is to list it as a fixed asset. As a limited company, this will bring down your corporation tax owing at the end of your financial year. Obviously in this case, the latter would be the only option available to you.

If you bought the camera through a VAT registered company you would need to charge VAT on the asset disposal. But it's a mute point, you're not VAT, so for people like me your price is pretty much the same as I would pay for a brand new unit.
