I am looking to buy an AG-DVX100A like tomorrow and I need help deciding best place to find (best deal) and what accessories are just a must - have for this camera. Could someone possibly help give me a run down of what is just mandatory to get with this beast and help me make a purchase decision. Any help would be greatly appreciated ! (I am currently looking at expresscameras.com for the purchase; they said they would sell it for $2800; should I go with that ? or does anybody know a better place?)

Thanks,
nathan

At that price I would be very suspicious. No one is selling the 100A that cheaply.

If you're looking for good service and fair prices I would recommend EVSOnline.com or BHPhoto.com

As for the accessories, look in the hardware forum, you will see all the options mentioned there:

Cases
Filters
Tripods
Batteries
Tapes
Lights
Sound

Finally, I just bought my Panasonic 1 month ago and I can tell you that you will find no better forum for all your questions than the one Jarred has set up here.

Best of luck,

Chris

I second that.

2800? No way. Or they'll pull and bait and switch and go "Oh yeah, its extra for this and that"

Evsonline.com

Ask for Rush or Cody.

I would avoid expresscamera.com. Check out resellerratings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com/seller1805.html). They have a terrible review.

I ordered a DVX100a last week from B&H. With it I got:

Mack 4-Year extended warranty
AY-DVM63MQ tapes - dry lubricant recommended by Panny
AY-DVMCLA cleaning cassette
Power-2000 LIthium-Ion Battery pack
Kata Panda backpack and trolley
B+W 72mm UV Haze filter (multi-coated)
Petrol PRC-P Camera Rain cover (lots of rain here in Seattle).

Anyway, that's my list. Good luck.

Re: Looking to buy AG-DVX100A...help...

I spoke with Josh at EVS and he couldn't have been more helpful. My DVX100A will arrive friday! Paying anything below 3K sounds way suspicious, it just isn't worth the hassle. He totally understood my concerns about the horror stories I've heard about getting a great price but then charging you extra for the things that come in the box anyway. Their price is the best "Legit" price I've seen..........Call e'm.

Re: Looking to buy AG-DVX100A...help...

I'd avoid the low ball offers. I've read extensive stories and complaints about these places. The have NO intention of ever selling you the camcorder at that price. You will only get that price if you buy overpriced add ons and service plans, etc. If you choose not to, they never send your order. When you call about it they say it's out of stock. But call a salesman back fresh (don't identify yourself) and they'll tell you there are plenty in stock. Eventually you cancel your order because it will never come. Why bother with the inevitable delay. Just order it from the place with the best price from among the reputable dealers.

Another good place is www.profeel.com. Great reviews online from the independent sites. I've purchased from them with much success. Prices are about as low as it gets among the reputable dealers. However, for a DVX100a, you'll want to pick a dealer in a state outside your's to avoid paying tax. For me, I live in New York, so I use www.profeel.com for all purchases except the big ones.
