*** Started this thread in the wrong place so made a new one here - sorry ***
I have a dvx 100b and I'm trying to find my work flow.
Mostly I will shoot short narrative pieces with a film look and film impressions of nature and people with a music under (just beautiful footage - I hope ;-) ). A film look for me implements it have to be a aspect ratio of at least 16:9.
I have Premiere Pro / After Effects both CS4 for the editing. I have read Stu Maschwitz book "The DV Rebels Guide" and understand the general principals of his DV Rebels workflow.
But where I get stuck and don't understand the process it is at the end where I must render out to different output formats. I understand that depending on the approach here at the end I maybe have to choose another way to do things earlier in the process. Ex. shoot squeeze instead of upres in post ect.
I want two or maybe three output formats. At home I have a dvd player and a HD wide screen television and Digital media player also connected to the television. And I want to upload my films to You-Tube/Vimeo and let them play in "HD" mode.
Thus my questions are:
1. What is my best workflow to make a DVD that pays well on a dvd player connected to HD wide screen television?
2. What is the best workflow and witch file format for playing my film on the media player connected to the HD wide screen television?
3. What is the best workflow and witch file format for uploading my film to You-Tube/Vimeo so the play in "HD" mode?
I have been testing some different things and my basic workflow is now.
Shooting in 25p (4:3) with scene settings f6, capture an edit in Premiere, go to After Effect to color correct and adding a letterbox, Render out a Tiff sequence. But then how do I go from here to DVD? And witch file format for the Media player.
I have tested resizing in After Effects to 1280 x 720 and then render out a MP4 h264 file for uploading to You-Tube that looks pretty good. But is this the best way?
Or should I just shoot in squeeze mode and edit in wide screen sequence in Premiere Pro?
I got long way - But the last steps will not come easely, so please help me here.
PS. I have read al threads here on upres/scaling/converting 4:3 to 16:9. Ex. this one: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=6843
