GH4 looking for some advice for a tripod

I have the Davis & Sanford and while I like it very much I find it larger and heavier and tend to not use it very often. My favorite for the GH4 turns out to be an off-brand thing that I added the Manfrotto 128RC QR Micro head which is perfect for the GH4.

If you can spare the cash, get a better tripod than you need today. A quality tripod will last for decades. I've had my Cartoni Gamma for 16 years. It has been on thousands of shoots in all kinds of weather and is still as smooth as glass. If you are not in a hurry, wait for a deal on ebay. I just picked up a barely used Cartoni Focus for my GH4 for $900.

This is a good budget tripod. I have the head, and it's really smooth, with adjustable tension in the tilt axis. The pan handle is extendable which is nice, and sort of makes the pan tension adjustable by changing torque. I have the same legs but 72" and they are really sturdy, with a 75mm bowl mount. But I've only found that length of sticks in Canada. Biggest con with the head is that the bubble level is in a stupid spot which makes it hard to look straight on when levelling.

yea no offense but im not spending $900-1700 on a tripod lmao. I thought i said that in beginning im on a budget if i wasnt i would have spend 40k on one already...
Also not ever gunna spend $900-1600 on a tripod that costs that much and then takes a yr and half to get here.

I am using the benro S6 kit with my GH4 for well over a year. The legs are sturdy, has 1/2 ball leveler, goes low to the ground and up high, works well on any terrain and is fairly light. The head will hold the camera steady. The pan and tilt is barely ok. I sometimes screw on a cheap lightweight still camera head when I want to go ultra-light. The bottom line for me is it has taken a beating and was within my price range. It is not worth the $300 they charge....maybe $200. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/896849-REG/Benro_a2573fs6_A2573F_SERS_2_AL.html

"I bought this tripod for a Panasonic GH4. Nice design BUT the quick release locking screw hits the bottom of the camera (probably any small DSLR) no matter how you shift the plate. YOU CAN"T TIGHTEN IT TO LOCK! Poor design flaw. Sorry to say that I'll have to return it unless Benro has some sort of work around."

do you have same problem?

Mine works fine after some adjustment. You can pull out the lock lever knob and adjust its position on the internal piece.

...ok what off brand one is it?....

It has been discontinued but it is a Dynex dx-mw010. I don't recommend this unless you can find a used one cheap AND you are really good at fixing things. The reason I bought the D & S tripod was because the head on the Dynex sucked and the riser column was wobbly. After hefting the D & S around I decided to fix the lighter Dynex by replacing the head and disassembling the thing to locate and fix the wobble which was done by using JB Weld to glue the riser spacers to the tripod. With all of the demons gone and the head replaced with the small manfrotto head it has become the tripod I use the most but it really would have been better to spend a little more up front for a better item.
