Howdy DVXusers,
I'm shooting a series of videos that will be part of a TED talk (ted.com) and could use some impressive footage of nature, but most commercial stock footage is both prohibitively expensive in bulk and also very static and often bland and video-like.
I'm in Austin, and while I've tried taking some cues from Tree of Life in shooting natural environments around here, the variety of awe-inspiring locations here in the winter is limited and I'm on a very tight schedule.
Sorry if it's presumptuous of me to ask for stuff that's more filmic than stock footage for less, but I know I personally have shot cool environments just because they were there without any thought of selling it as stock footage. I'm sure many of you have done the same and live near or have visited some impressive natural environments, and of course a lot of you have good sensibilities when it comes to getting filmic shots.
Although you're welcome to ask your own price for a clip or set of clips, ideally I'd like to find at least a few clips for $10/shot. My editor likes to cut a lot (hence this post), so just a few seconds long is fine.
Footage doesn't need to be color graded but it does need to be in high definition without too much camera shake. Time lapses, animals, and the like are all valid.
Although the client will have full rights to the video and whatever's in it and even I'm not guaranteed credit during the presentation itself, I will include you in the credits on my website, when I post the video online myself, and wherever else I can. Plus, if you're a fan of TED you know that they are a well-respected non-profit and the talks are generally education, high quality, and socially valuable. I personally am excited to have my work be a part of that, hopefully you will as well.
I'm also looking for religious-themed and possibly military-esque environments or footage, so if you have something you think meets that description please send it along as well.
Email links or attachments to footage@davidlackeyfilm.com. SD previews are fine, but I will need a signed contract and the HD clip itself before I can send payment via Paypal.
Thanks!
