Looking for high-speed camera to hire in Melbourne Australia to compliment F3 shoot

Will the PIX 240 give us better options for overcrank?
I don't know if the PIX 240 will offer internal S&Q or VFR, but it really doesn't matter. It will do 720 60p to ProRes 422HQ (or Avid DNxHD), and you can simply conform that in post to play back at 23.98 or 29.97, and you have instant slow motion.

lot of these offboard recorders pretty much operate the same way, it's just the way sdi signal in general is designed. broadcast spec. high speed is pretty limiting when it comes to offboard recording. generally the kpm auto detects what the signal is and will still record that even if the presets are set wrong on the kpm since it doesn't do any FR conversion or resolution scaling. haven't tried the VFR mode yet, don't even remember seeing it.

the pix 240 wouldn't really offer much over the kpm recording wise, it's main benefit is in the feature sets it has over the kpm, including a hardware scaler for the 720 to 1080, which might produce better results than scaling in post ( or not, we'll see ) and can do the FR conversion for you if needed and give you that VFR if you so desire to capture and see the slow motion right away. Yes you can always leave it to post, but sometimes you really need to see your shot in slow motion to see if it's good for you.
