Looking for HDVF 30 round eyecup

Looking for the (i believe its) grey colored round eyecup for the HDVF 30 viewfinder. I've seen them before but i cant for life of me find it.

This is the entire assembly with the diopter. I presume you're just wanting the angled cushion.

*EDIT* The entire assembly was ~$725 about 10 years ago. I don't know if the cushion was sold/available separately. I hit a rep up, but I doubt that it is still available new. But I could be wrong.

Hoodman used to make a very similar cushion that just went over top of the VF and I had several, but I don't think they have been made in a long time.

Your best, easiest and cheapest solution is probably just to get a BlueStar cushion to put over the regular eye-cup. I have the fleece ones on all of my VF.

It’s not that one. It’s just an out er grey rubber eye cup. Ver in Chicago had one and I’ve seen it elsewhere. I have the panavision modified hdvfc30 but it didn’t have an eye cup and I’d like to find the round one instead of the normal eng looking one

That's the entire diopter with the eyecup attached. But that is the eyecup you're talking about, correct?

This was the Hoodman cushion that I was talking about that's similar. It's angled slightly, round, cushioned and the cushion is washable/replaceable. You slip the entire thing over the back of the VF and tighten it down with the attached velcro strap. They've been out of production for a while, but you may be able to find some of these used(Adorama listed one).

This listing is no longer available but is this what you are looking for?

Mike already has the actual VF, he is just looking for the "round" angled eye-piece cushion(basically the right half of the first pic I posted). The link you posted is the VF with just a Bluestar cushion on the standard eye cup. But his best bet is probably going to be just getting a standard eye-cup(he said his is missing) and the putting a Bluestar cushion on it. At the very least, it will be the cheapest.

Mike, have you reached out to Sony directly to see if the round cushion is still available directly as a service part? I shot with one on a VF a few times, but they were definetly not prevelant out in the wild. One thing to keep in mind, because of the angle, it does partially obscure the view into the VF unless your eye is directly against it.

To my luck, one of the DVXuser's avatar pictures has the eyecup im looking for. Added the picture here. Also, does anyone know if sony made extension cords for the HDVF viewfinders, because i could really benefit from about a foot or so of extra cable.

Yes, you can order the extension from Sony. But they are $700 if I remember correctly.
But it is an easy change, plug and play.

The VF piece you are referring to was used by Panavision and I have seen it on the Otto Nemenz mod too. I have looked for it, but had no success. The advantage of it is that the eyecup closes when you release your eye from it, avoiding light burning the screen. Let me know if you find a source. I am also interested in them.

This one, right?

Again, I have the Panavision modified HDVF 30 viewfinder which includes the optical tube, just not the grey rubber eyecup which is what im looking for.

Chill brother... I know what you are looking for, but did you even read my message? Extension wire - yes. Available from Sony. Eyevup in grey - I don’t know. The one in the avatar you posted is from Otto Nemenz. That is why I posted the picture. You may be able to talk to someone at Otto and get them to share the source for their eyecup. The Panavision VF has the same eyecup as the Sony because Panavision uses the same Sony diopter. I know cause I have both. Anything that was fitted to any c30w or c30wr fits the Panavision extension you have.

If you end up finding one, share your source with the forum. Someone else may be interested in replacing the OEM Sony one with the one you are showing.

I didnt mean to come off pissy, i wasn't, appoligies if i upset you. Do you by chance know the model or part number i can search on sony's parts website for the cable extension? Is their a list of parts i can check out?

Sorry I don’t. Mine came with it but I know some people have purchased it at Sony.

Call Sony professional. It won’t appear in the exploded diagrams for the viewfinder but they sell the part. Ask them, they will go away, do some research and get back to you. They are very responsive.
