looking for harddisk recorder hows this guy???

It isn't really a hard disk in the strictest sense. It is a removable media drive.

It isn't a "recorder". It is an external Firewire hard drive.

If you have a camera that will record to an external Firewire hard drive, then this (or any other Firewire external hard drive) will work. Else, it is just another Firewire external mass storage device.

Your camera doesn't send the kind of data out the firewire port that could go to a standard external drive. That drive is expecting to be talked to by a computer, and be told to save files, where your camera is just pushing video through Firewire - not processing it or telling the drive to save it.

To record live to a harddrive from a DVX-100, you'd need a Firestore (that one will record from any MiniDV cameras, or the HVX-200), or something like it. A bunch of companies make these, but some have better reputations than others. I've only ever used the Firestore.
