We've finally produced something I feel is good enough to post here so you folks can rip it apart.
I covered this event with Meg, We used 2 cameras a 170 and a 300 to shoot this on Saturday.
It's a 4:20 celebration where the local cops overreacted and went crazy. Keep in mind it's all live action, I don't know what's going to happen, and I'm also doing my best to keep an eye on the overall situation as things develop. It's a very hectic environment. That said I know there are a lot of things I can do better. I'm looking for any insights and suggestions you have for me.
There is strong language near the beginning and end, so NSFW!

The audio is less than ideal, I can setup a wireless boom with either a AT4073a or a Schoeps CMC641, run through a Sound Devices line driver, to a Lectro MM400a back to the HPX300. This might improve the audio, but would require an additional crew, and a lot of work to stay together while staying out of each others way. I'll get better at controlling the levels, which is a challenge in this environment.
I'm also really struggling with framing. If I zoom in to get a close up, I'm afraid of missing something else. Right now I'm trying to quickly jump in to a close, focus, and get the shot without missing anything. I know this will get better with more experience, but what should I be trying to do in these situations?
(BTW - I'm using the 300 from across the street filming the crowd, and meg is in the crowd filming the police with the 170 most of the time)
Any pointers you have on shooting a situation like this, would be greatly appreciated.
