Looking for Constructive Criticism

Hey folks. Hoping you can help me learn a bit about filmmaking. So maybe some of you heard about the Amex/Tribeca Film Festival sponsored 15 second clip contest. http://clips.mylifemycard.com/ So one of the first things I shot with my new DVX100b was something for this contest. They give you topics like childhood ambition, inspiration, etc. My first idea had to do with childhood ambition and I wanted to show how as a kid you really want to do so many things and your dreams seem limitless. But as you get older you sometimes may get stuck in a 9 to 5 and forget about all the dreams you had as a kid. So then I wanted to show that even though I've grown up, I still hold on to that kind of thing. Ok first shot at it:

I had to change my original idea some because everything was short notice and the weather wasn't cooperating. So Amex nixed that one. You could enter as many times as you wanted and since I had a couple hours before the deadline, I decided to try and re-edit the footage from a different angle. This time the kid is stuck indoors on a rainy day and tries to make the best of it. Enter 2nd try:

So anyway, sorry for the long post but I'm looking for some feedback to help me on future projects. Thanks for your input.
