Looking for best PC Configuration run Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 smoothly

Yes, I guarantee that the i7 will outperform the AMD when it comes to rendering in After Effects or any other software of that nature. And the i7 supports multi-threading (not sure about the AMD), so it essentially has six cores anyway (or at least Task Manager shows six cores)

Thanks Gary

Turns out the AMD has multi threading too. So you're saying it comes down to architecture as for the i7 perform over the AMD?

Thanks for the link, according to that review, the AMD has faster encoding times by approx 10%. I should mention that I am most likely NOT going to be overclocking this CPU.

Unless I'm misreading that review, an unclocked AMD outperforms the intel on a number of those tests.

For your situation, the test I'd look at is the MainConcept encoding test. That has to do directly with rendering video. So, yeah, it looks like on stock clock performance, the AMD edges out the Intel. I'll be damned. That's good to know. I'd say that, in real world situations, the two are probably equal. If the price was the same, I'd probably still go with Intel, but if the AMD chip is cheaper, I'd go with that instead.

Yeah, the only concern I have found now with the AMD is that its the last of the product line. Phenom II's are not being built anymore. The i7 on the other hand is brand new and as I have to buy a new mobo for either of these cpu's I might as well future prrof myself.

OR, I could wait for the new AMD 8-core series!

Decisions, decision! Though by the time you look to upgrade, DDR5 desktop RAM will probably exist, and you'll need to upgrade anyway!

Niksa, Zissou

would you go with a quad-core i7 or a 6-core AMD Phenom II 1090T?
given that the AMD is cheaper, i'm a little torn.

i'm looking to increase AE rendering speed.

i7 Quadcore 920 or 950 is faster than a 6-core AMD Phenom II 1090T I have researched as I was thinking along the same lines as you are.

7D Dude
