Loooking for best PC Configuration run Adobe Premiere Pro CCS4 smoothly

I am seeking advice to set-up a best configuration to run Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 / CS5 and Adobe Encore CS4/CS5 smoothly.Name/propose the best configuration for using the (i7) Processor, DDR3 RAM, Dual Optical drive (including BD writing capability), Full HD Monitor/s, Nvidia Video card FX Series(GPU), Suitability of HDD(RAID-0, -1 or -5), special key board fr CS4/CS5, wireless keyboad/mouse, NO. of USB Version2/Version 3 ports on board, Number of PCIe ports on motherboard, Firewire port/s, HDMI ports, Express card slot(for Sony HD Pro video cameras), Model numbers, Brand names are welcome here.
Presently I am experiencing lots of problems running CS4 on a 2.8GHz single core Processor, 2GB DDR2RAM,1TB HDD, with a Sony SXS USB2 Reader, etc.,video will freeze out after 2seconds of play on monitor.Audio was not affected at all. But the quality of DVD I made was excellent. no problems with video or audio.
Ur help is greatly appreciated. Thx.
Pushpa.

You should be able to find a few similar threads on PC builds. I wouldn't get too caught up on specific components, any i7 system will run CS4 great (esp compared to a single core). I built mine when they were new with the cheapest components (at the time), and they aren't much faster today. I just tried CS5 and it is much more fluid with h.264 based codecs, so certainly check that out for its performance boosts.

Unless you have money to burn, the i7 920/930 is the way to go. 6GB of RAM is enough for premiere, but 12 is better if you go CS5 or use multiple apps... and necessary if you use after fx. i7 boards can usually take 24GB, but 4GB sticks are still pretty overpriced.

Drive speed and size depends on what format you are editing with. You might not notice any difference with a RAID unless you are using an intraframe codec. Still, I'd recommend separate drives at least for 1) OS, 2) work/scratch space, 3) and backup. I use 2x 1TB drives in Raid 0 for temp work. This is very fast and simple, but needs to be backed up. Some prefer RAID-5 for redundancy, but you still need a backup anyway. Try an SSD for the OS if you want to see some fast load times. You can get by with large, cheaper "green" drives for basic storage and backup of media files.

I wouldn't worry so much about the ports, they are pretty much the same on all full sized boards for the i7 and chalked full of ports. Just pick one that has the features you want and has good reviews. There are plenty of pcie slots for expanding as you go.

Any respectable video card is going to give you 2 monitor outs to boot. Doesn't have to be HDMI, any DVI port converts to HDMI. Some of the new ATI cards have up to 4 outputs. If you want the best performance from CS5 now, you'd want to get one of the approved NVidia cards for acceleration. They will likely start supporting cheaper cards in the near future though if you don't want to spend $400+ (there are already unsupported hacks for other cards).

Thx vm mcsmooth....still in the process of collecting info stage to have a good set-up for PPro CS4/5. Ur advice is much appreciated. Yes I also noticed if I want to increase the RAM from 12 to 24GB..the price will jump-up closer to A$2000.00.

Choose an online webstore and i'll put you together a list as i'm not sure what you can get in the outback and how much everything costs.

Hi Smifis

I would appreciate if u could post the list of addresses to look around for a best configuration for a best steaming PC for me..

Thx

have someone build it for you; i built editing machines before; 5K is a heck of a lot of a machine for editing.

for 5K, i could build a very nice i7 machine with tons of ram, a graphics card aimed at speed, and SSD's for scratch/boot discs, and std disk drives for storage. and a nice fat profit margin for my time/troubles.

I need help

I need help

I red your post and I want to ask you for a little help,I'm planing to buy a pc for working with adobe after effects ccs4/5,but to be honest I don't know what are the best performances or at least not the best but pc that can work pretty good,I don't understand the RAID technology and stuff you're talking about,I read about it on some forums and wiki but still that's not enough,I spent a lot of time for collecting money to buy a new desktop,so it will be so much of help if you give me help with buying the right one. This is the configuration I'm planing to buy and I want you to tell me what should I change about it,do I need more RAM or what should I do with the RAID,or two say it more simple what should I tell them how to set up my configuration.
I will really appriciate if you can help me with that.In question are a lot of money for my budget so there is no turning back, hope I'll get soon answer, thank you.

• Intel Core i7 920
• MB MSI X58-Pro
• HDD 1TB (2x500GB)
• RAM DDR3 6GB/1333
• VGA MSI N260GTX TwinFrozr OC
• Sound blaster 7.1
• 2 x LAN 10/100/1000

This configuration costs about 900EU,I can afford 100EU plus.

Niksa, where are you located?

I can build a custom system for you that will guarantee 100% compatabilty with Premiere Pro CS4/5 with great performance for €900+shipping.

Since researching this same question I found the Adobe Premiere Pro Hardware forums have some great specific info on setting up a system...
The benchmarks here are great to see what people are using and the specific results they are getting....

For my next PC build I'll probably just go through this list, pick out a good 'bang for buck' system shown in the list and go with that.

Niksa, Zissou

would you go with a quad-core i7 or a 6-core AMD Phenom II 1090T?
given that the AMD is cheaper, i'm a little torn.

i'm looking to increase AE rendering speed.

Yes, I guarantee that the i7 will outperform the AMD when it comes to rendering in After Effects or any other software of that nature. And the i7 supports multi-threading (not sure about the AMD), so it essentially has six cores anyway (or at least Task Manager shows six cores)
