This is a very sad story and it makes me sick just to think about it.
I was so stupid to let a friend rent my EX3 for scraps. The batteries ran out and he used my external power supply with a 12v 9amps battery in a little bag. He forgot to close the bag and in a shady enviroment he connected an external monitor with an 25feet cable to the camera. The rca-connection block for the component cable came to rest on the + pole of the external battery in the bag. So when he inserted the Sony component plug in the camera, every thing in the camera went dark with a nice spark and a nasty burning smell.
Sony repair centre made an estimation of 4700 us$ for repairs.
My friend who told me he will pay for all the costs, gives me "no home replies" recently. He called me and told me that he cannot get hold of that amount of money. One day when he sees the money tree, he will compensate me.
So now Iam F.....
I guess I will be better off buying just the body without the VF.
Does any body know who to contact at Sony to buy just that part?
