Looking for an articulating arm.

Hello all,

I have the Zacutto Z finder EVF for my FS100. What are you guys using as an articulating arm? Lots of options. I do not know what is best. I am thinking of connecting the arm to the top of the camera using one of the stock holes. Thanks!

I can't remember if Tilta does pure arms or if theirs only comes as a rail mounted arm. Anyways, I have the rail mounted arm and am very happy with it. You can attach or detach it without disassembling the rig.

Thanks legrevedotcom. I like it. But I do not see the price or how to buy on the Tilta site.

I wish I could recommend one, but I do know they need to be solidly built. I had to fix one an a set and from what I could most companies probably don't make most of them very solid. For instance the shaft on the one I fixed was maybe 5/16" or under a centimeter. With the stresses on all the internal parts to me are just too great for that size. For instance there is a wire retainer and other internal parts which get really small.

Look at pics & video of our 6 inch "ClockArms" - I'm thinking this could be a workhorse EVF arm. Super strong, all axis adjustment and I think I can hit $250 price point or in that area. Still need to provide for level horizon which is simple. The arms are ready to go and in stock.

Notice the single point of adjustment: a flip of the wrist will fully lock or dial in the resistance desired. After the rosette teeth engage and lock we designed it so additional adjust on the clamp will permit or eliminate rotation of the rod. That's slick for an EVF because you can make the eyepiece "firm" like a betacam so you can move the eye cup up and down as you shoot- but it's always locked when you press your eye against it. It's actually more adjustable than the 'betacam' form factor. Tilts up and down / in and out like a betacam but also and swings over like Aaton. Okay?

For EVF duty The end with the rubberized hand knob attaches to a rosette on the forward edge of our cheeseplate.

We can machine your cheeseplate- or anything you may be using -to accept our rosette for a $95 shop charge. 2 day turnaround.

The photo above shows a Turret connector on the end but to build this out for EVF use I would probably put a smaller rubberized knob in place of the Turret so that it grabs the 1/4 socket on your EVF and quickly allows horizon to level. What say ye?
