Looking for a wireless Lav Mic, Transmitter for around $1200

I'm looking for a wireless lavalier microphone, transmitter, and receiver for the purpose of recording interviews in close-up, but I think I could also use it for wide shots in my short film projects.

My budget is 1200.

Thanks.

I'm pretty satisfied with the sound of the Sanken COS-11x from those clips.

What transmitter/receiver should I have the Sanken outfitted for?

Grab a used Lectrosonics off eBay. There are lots of them out there with blocks that are now illeagal so you might want to stay away from those. Some people don't care.

The sanken is a better lav than I use (tr-50's) on my lectros. You'll have to research all the lectro models but for $1200 you can get a really nice used one.

Did you have a particular model in mind, or is Lectronics a safe brand?

This is the used auction I was looking at: Here

While blocks 27/28/29 are technically illegal..
The FCC is a very tiny organization and can never enforce it.
And remember you can get those blocks switched over back at the factory for a cost.

I own 4 Lectro 411 block 27/28 .
The ONLY reason im going to have them switched over(im stalling) is for the RARE occasions I go into a sporting event where you have to get preapproved freq's
from the wireless coordinator. (big games like championships..superbowls..etc)
Im guessing if I send in the request for a block 28 freq they will say "sorry, we cant give you one because thats an unallowed freq range).

Other than that, I would have no issues using them on an everyday basis.
If someone is a buyer, you can get some really good deals on those blocks now,
and you can always have them switched over later.

I might end up selling them like everyone else just for the opportunity to
buy newer models.

the 190's are pretty old.
They sounded good in the day..but the most important reason i'd tell you
to stay way from the 190's are the fact they are 1 freq always.

You cant change to another freq if you have interference.

Also they are non diversity. (one antenna)

If you are looking for older lectro's go for 205's or 210's.

Next level up would be 201's and 211's

Next level up from that would be 401's and 411's.

Lectro's are awesome! The 190's are older but if you can get it for $400-$500 you can probably use it for a couple years and get your money back. You can buy a used tram tr-50 for it for $100. The sanken might be overkill for the 190's, it's expensive but really good. Listen to Rippe he knows his stuff.

I didn't want to give you advise on buying a lectro with an illeagal frequency but if it were me for now and the next year or two I wouldn't care too much.

If you have $1200 to spend you'll be really happy with a newer model although the older models are really good for the money.

You can also look into something like the Sennheiser Wireless with upgraded lav. You could get two of those systems for the budget you have here, and that'd make your interviews sound that much better. There's also the Audio Technica 1800 Dual wireless system for right around that range, though it's not as solid as the other systems mentioned.
You can't go wrong with any of the above advice, just offering another idea
