GH3 Looking for a normal range zoom lens

On my wishlist is a zoom lens that I can use on my GH3 with Speed Booster. Therefore I need a lens with a Nikon mount.

I mainly shoot weddings (video only) and my most used lens is the Sigma 18-35. For next season I want to add a Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 to the list for ultra wides.
Then I have around 400-500$ left for a bit more normal range lens. Actually a 24-70 f2.8 would be perfect but unfortunately all brands are too expensive for me at the moment.

Then I came across the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 which has a good price, and great coverage while still maintaining a slightly fast aperture, especially when used with the Speed Booster. However it gets mixed reviews and especially the horrible focus ring throws me off. I need a good manual focus ring, as that is the only method I use all day. Also I don't consider anything slower than f4.

So, anyone here has experience with the Sigma 17-70? Are there other lenses I should know about?

Take a look and see if you can find one of these Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD IF lenses cost effectively.

The better one is NOT the VC (OIS) version. If you're into Canon and Nikon comparisons, this web site is killer for comparing lenses.

In the Canon world that is a pretty good value. I'm not sure but I think this is the exact same lens in Nikon mount

I was considering getting the Tamron 28-75, which sells for $500 new at B&H. Optically it's supposed to be great. One reviewer on the reviews section said that a problem is that it has a very small focus radius, or whatever you call that when you are manually focusing, and he found that challenging on location. It would be best if you could try it on your GH3 before buying.

Focus throw on the Tamrons are very small, so I don't like using them in MF.

Isn't 18-35 pretty much normal range? Here's a tip: Use it without the Speed Booster. :P

Nikon AF Zoom Nikkor 18-200 f/3.5-5.6G ED-IF AFS DX VR lens with the Metabones SpeedBooster is a combo I use often when I need one lens to get everything on my GH4 or AF100. I have no issues pumping up the gain on either one of the cameras to cover the f3.5
