Looking for a Follow Focus Gear Ring for the stock Sony 18-200 lens

Hey guys,

Is there a decent follow focus gear ring out there that I can put over the stock Sony 18-200mm lens?

Basically, I'm looking for something like this:

But for a 67mm lens (I believe that's the thread size for the Sony 18-200.

Does not appear to have the "knob" that you can grasp with your fingers to turn.

Anybody have any experience with this?

I'm not looking for the full on kitting it out with the wheel and rails deal, just a nice thing I can put over the focus ring to grasp so it's easier to turn.
 
When picking a gear ring for the kit lens, pay attention not just to its diameter, but also the width - it cannot be too wide, as the focus ring is very narrow itself, and it isn't offset from the surrounding lens body; one of my Redrock rings fits OK with its diameter, but is just half a millimeter too wide!
 
Interesting - my experiences with the kit lens lead me to believe that it needed a Follow Focus system like a fish needed a bicycle, but it appears that we have awarded a few piscine yellow jerseys already.

As the kit lens has a servo driven focus which means that.... not only do we not have end stops to contend with, we also have no AF Assist mode and worse still, slow steady rotations of the focus ring get ignored, faster rotations lead to focal point overshoots, if ever there was a lens suited to 'tap the screen to focus on something' this would be it.

Is it really tameable with a Follow Focus unit?

All your reservations about the focusing system of the FS100 kit lens are true and well-based - nevertheless, with the camera on the shouldermount, I find it possible (and actually - much easier) to use FF than operate the focus ring manually.

Short, fast turns sometimes is all you need to go all the way from wide to tele; when you are where you want to be already - smooth and slow FF movements will fine tune the focus for you. Really!

Frankly - I'll go even further and tell you that I'm considering another FF system to be put on the other side of my rails, and zoom with....
 
I was looking around the internet, anybody use the Cinevate Follow Focus Gear Ring with Durus Focus Lever? That's about what I'm looking for.

Yupp. No point in a follow focus for the kit lens. Its for run and gun and I personally shoot with it on AF 99% of the time, which is actually why I have it.

I do use my D Focus as zoom support though and have been able to get some decent steady zooms with it (cant keep it steady from 18 to 200 obviously).
