ive used colorista 2 and color finesse 3 and the secondary are good in both of them but it feels like if you had the options of the layering from color finesse and the power masks/keyframing/and key from colorista you could go so much farther

so what is the best most in depth color corrector?

Isn't it possible to layer in colorista simply by using multiple instances of the plugin on a clip? Beyond that, you need to specify what platform you are on and the NLE you use if you want people to be able to respond to your question. Color of course is very full featured for those on a mac who own FCS.
 
Im on a pc and yes you can layer colorista but it still isnt enough control, I guess I will just have to do mattes. They split it up into 8 colors, I hope they go farther in the next version.
 
Thats a tough one- I think you already have the good plug-ins. If you really want to dig into color and dont have much money- Id just pic up a used mac pro and get Resolve. Make a little coloring beast on the cheap.
