Thanks John, appreciate the plug....seriously the spanish cd is cool...other good stuff is Bill Laswells collection...but there again I'm only just starting in this so take everything with a grain of salt, please.

Cheers once again,

Paul.

Re: Look what I got!

Hey, Paul, listened to the track. Very nice!

I've never used acid as I've been more into software like Reason and the like, but as I understand it, one simply arranges premade loops in acid to create a song? If it sounds as if I'm making the process sound cheap, I'm not, I'm just curious as to what is actually involved in making an original track in Acid. Thanks! :)

Re: Look what I got!

I suppose you could input your own loops and mix from there, but yeah, in Acid there are a gazillion samples, songs, loops, etc that you combin in a gazillion different ways. Its the PO mans music mixer.

Re: Look what I got!

Thanks Jive! Yes, as John very rightly says, you basically mix loops on a timeline to create a track. There are loops to be had for free, you can use your own or you can buy cd's with different tastes of music and sounds. For someone like me who doesn't even know what a note looks like on paper, it is quite a satisfying though sometimes painful experience...But ultimately fun of course...

Sony has free version of Acid called Acid Express and Acidplanet publishes what they call 8packs which are free every week. Acid Pro users also get more freebies. (my apologies, I'm beginning to sound like a Sony employee!)

I actually started in this as a result of a corporate video I was commissioned to do for a laboratory and of course needed some music to put behind it. Managed to put a piece together which surprisinlgy the client was very happy with!

Thanks again for support guys!

Cheers,

Paul.
